Every Shelf feature

Explore your PDF library, Docs, Tutor, quizzes, AI Planner, calendar views, and more — tools for readers, learners, researchers, and teachers to organize work in one place.

Library & reader

All-in-one study library: store PDFs, notes, and YouTube; highlight; write Docs; tabs and split view.

Notes, PDFs, AI, quizzes, and a planner — in one Shelf

Stop bouncing between a notes app, a PDF folder, a chatbot, and a quiz site. Shelf stores your material, lets you write Docs, ask Tutor grounded in your library, practice with quizzes, and plan revision.

One place for notes and PDFs. Then ask an LLM.

Shelf is built for the workflow people search for: keep everything you study in one library, then use Tutor — our LLM layer — to ask questions grounded in your files, not the open web.

Your material, your structure

Collections act like notebooks. Topics group related pages — including YouTube playlists. Root-level pages sit beside collections for quick access — no forced “General” folder.

Highlight as you read

Mark passages on pages you uploaded. Colors persist on the document for later revision and feed into Tutor when you ask from a selection.

Tabs, split view, and focus mode

A Cursor-inspired reader: up to 15 tabs, two-pane split for cross-referencing, collapsible library and Tutor panels, and fullscreen that keeps chat docked.

Find anything you uploaded

Search the explorer for page titles and content across collections — so a half-remembered definition in last month's PDF is one query away.

Sketch and type beside PDFs

Not every page is a PDF. Shelf supports sketch canvases and rich Doc pages — including a research writing suite with citations and export — in the same collections as your uploads.

Pick up exactly where you stopped

Pin collections to the top of your library and reopen the last page you read in each notebook — on any device after sign-in.

YouTube lectures next to your PDFs

Bring a video or a whole playlist into the same collection as your notes. Watch in the reader, stamp the time, and split a textbook beside the lecture.

Your own lecture, in the reader

Upload a video file, watch it beside your notes, and let Tutor use the transcript when you ask about the lecture.

Write research papers in your library

Typed Docs are no longer just notes. Shelf adds citations, bibliography styles, outlines, footnotes, KaTeX equations, version history, suggest mode, and export — beside the PDFs you cite.

Tutor

Students ask an LLM grounded in uploads — Tutor on a highlight, page, or whole library. Paraphrase and originality included.

Rewrite in your words. Check against your library.

Paraphrase a highlight or Doc passage with Tutor. Originality reports library and syllabus overlap — and Premium web scans when a plagiarism vendor key is configured.

Ask a question, then check the PDF

Add a PDF, ask Tutor about a passage or page, and use source links to check the answer in the document. Return to the same reading context later.

An AI tutor that read your syllabus

Tutor answers from the PDFs and notes you uploaded. Ask “explain this like I’m revising tonight” and get answers tied to your material.

An LLM that knows your material

Tutor retrieves passages from your library, cites sources, and stays grounded in what you uploaded — with optional course outlines to focus answers.

Ask on a selection or the whole page

The reader panel's Tutor dock handles quick questions without leaving the document — summarize, bullet notes, mind maps, or free-form ask.

Chat across your library

The /study-ai workspace is multi-turn chat with scope filters — LIBRARY, NOTEBOOK, TOPIC, or PAGE — plus optional relevancy documents.

Summarize, note, or mind-map a page

One-click actions in the reader transform dense PDFs into recap formats you can revisit later.

Match depth to the question

Quick for fast lookups; Standard and Deep (Premium) for longer reasoning and multi-step analysis.

Control the conversation

Stop a long reply, queue the next question, expand diagrams inline, and use tools when library retrieval alone is not enough.

From chat to calendar and quiz

Say 'remind me tomorrow' or 'make a quiz on this chapter' — Tutor can create planner items and open Quiz scoped to your material.

Practice & planning

Teacher test prep and student quizzes, a revision calendar, and a dashboard that tracks reading habits.

Flashcards and quizzes from the same PDFs you read

Turn textbook chapters and class notes into active practice: Tutor flashcards plus Shelf Quiz papers — without copying text into another app.

Prepare tests from the same PDFs you teach

Upload a course outline and worksheets, then build practice quizzes from that material. Shelf keeps preparation in your private library — share only the handouts learners should see.

Practice quizzes from your notes

Proctored or practice sittings: MCQs with four options, LaTeX written answers, and photos of handwritten working — from your indexed material.

Plan the week beside your library

A time-based day and week calendar, a simpler month overview, and one flexible item for everything you plan.

Turn a goal into a schedule you can use

Type a goal or upload a supporting PDF or document, choose dates and one or more daily time slots, then review the plan before it appears on your calendar.

See your study rhythm

Dashboard summaries show usage, streaks, and recent activity — a calm overview after sign-in, not a gamified distraction.

Share your study streak

Story-ready PNG cards from your reading stats — private library, public consistency.

Integrations

Import PDFs from Telegram and send them back, bring YouTube lectures into your library, play Spotify beside your reader, and share documents with classmates.

Import and send PDFs via Telegram

Link Telegram once, then send or forward PDFs to the Shelf bot. Files appear at your library root. Share sends a library PDF back to the same chat.

Spotify beside your PDF

Paste a Spotify link into the reader dock. Login happens in Spotify's player — audio continues when you collapse the panel or enter fullscreen.

Share Shelf with classmates

Invite Shelf users by email with view or edit access. Recipients see Shared with me in their library; owners keep control of rename and delete.

Platform

Offline PWA, cross-device sync, keyboard shortcuts, free curriculum, and Premium plans.

Install Shelf on your device

Shelf works as a progressive web app — add to home screen on phone or desktop for an app-like shell with offline-aware library caching.

Same library on every device

Sign in to sync last-read pages, collections, and Tutor threads across browsers and devices.

Shortcuts for power users

Command palette search and key chords open Tutor, Quiz, planner, and library destinations from anywhere in the app.

Explore learning resources on Shelf Learn

/learn is a public Subject → Topic → Article catalog — separate from your private uploads on /my-content.

More room for serious study

Premium is for students who keep a large PDF library and use Tutor every day — more storage headroom, deeper AI, and advanced answer modes.
