Shelf feature
Ask a question, then check the PDF
Add a PDF, ask Tutor about a passage or page, and use source links to check the answer in the document. Return to the same reading context later.
What you get
- Ask on a highlight, a page, or library-wide chat
- Cited excerpts from your uploads
- Summaries, notes, mind maps, and follow-ups in one thread
- Free Tutor limits; Premium for heavier daily use
A practical first test: upload a document you know, open it in the reader, select a passage, and ask Tutor to explain it. Open the cited source before using the answer. For a question spanning files, change the scope to a collection or your indexed library.
If a PDF is scanned or has little selectable text, processing and OCR may take time. AI can still be wrong; verify important claims in the original page. Shelf's advantage is keeping the document, saved chat, highlights, and next reading task together—not eliminating the need to check sources.
